比較読書　1万年の現在50

「本は伝統工芸品となる」と言った人がいるが、実感である。
モノとしての扱い方から紹介して、その魅力を具体的に「伝授」しなければ、すくなくともこの日本列島は数十年以内に一生本に縁遠い人間が圧倒的多数派となろう勢いである。
もちろんネット読書、デジタル読書もありえるし、今後は読書はそちらが主流となるだろう。
しかし、モノとしての本の意義と魅力はまた別位相に存在する。

それを知ってもらうために大学生の「読書基礎教育」が必要だとかんがえ、課題図書をリスト化し履修にはそのレポートを必須とした。
大学図書館にない文庫本やジュニア本も、結構用意した。
しかし、実際は読まないであらすじや感想をネットから拝借して書いたと思われる例が少なくなかった。
つまり単に「課題」として読書レポートを書かせるのは無意味なのだ。

今では授業の何日かを選んで、その時間内に比較的読みやすそうな本を選択してもらい、その場で実際に読んでもらうことにしている。
そうしてこの春からは、さらにその本に関連した作品を選び、両者を比較したレポートを提出してもらおうと思っている。
それと同時に、モノとしての本に親しむこと、その意義と面白さを伝えねばならないのだが、それはあるいは大道芸のようなものになるかも知れない。もちろん大道芸が披露できればそれでよいのだが。
リストのメイン・タイトル数は、この3年間で200から100、そして50へと減らした。
その結果のほどは、また後日。
