吾死なば （ 地図原論 見えないもの・その2 ）
When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet;

これは、クリスティナ・ロセッティ Christina Rossetti(1830-1894) 、あのラファエロ前派のダンテ・ガブリエル・ロセッティの妹さんの作です。
例によって、私訳は
吾死なば いとしき人
悼（いた）み歌 うたうなかれ
薔薇の花 影差す糸杉 汝（なれ）植（う）うなかれ
吾が上には雨また滴、露けき草を
意あらば 想い出し
意なくば 忘れかし
吾影を見ず
風を覚えず
痛みある如（ごと）夜啼く鳥も 耳に覚えず
さありてまどろめる 薄明かりのなか
夜明けなく 日没なく
はた 想い出し
はた 忘れ去り
ですが、「ああ、あの歌」というくらい知られたクリスティーナ原詩の歌はまた別にあって、それをはじめて唄ったのは多分私達が小学校の四年生の時なのでした。
