　　白泉について
　渡邊白泉（本名渡邊威徳）は大正二年東京に生まれた　昭和二十七年四月本校に赴任　社会科で教鞭を執り　四十四年脳溢血により急逝した　享年五十六歳
　十六歳の時『子規俳話』を読んで俳句に興味をもち　その後水原秋桜子に学び　西東三鬼　高屋窓秋　らとの親交を重ねた
「俳句は現代の詩」との信念を深め　俳壇に精力的に投稿し「新興俳句」の旗手として嘱望された
　日中戦争後は　豊かな人間性と文学的教養に溢れた戦争や軍部批判の秀句を発表した
　戦後　人間の孤独の情感にあふれる作品を残し　とりわけ透徹した　俳句の音韻論は注目される

沼津市立沼津高等学校同窓会（求道の会）主体となり小冊子『渡邊白泉句集』（白泉句集編集委員会編・渡邊白泉句碑建立実行委員会刊）上梓さるは2010年なり。
同冊子口絵句碑写真下「沼津市立沼津高等学校構内平成22年1月建立」と記す。
また別途「白泉は、ますます遠く、不思議な人となる。句碑ひとつない。ただ、ある歳時記に一月三十日が「白泉忌」として掲げられているのが慰めである」（栗林浩著『俳人探訪』2007年初版、77ページ）が建碑の契機と記せり。
句とその解説碑、建碑10年満たざるも、バス通りと正門駐車場入口角にあたりし故か、石表面汚染甚だし。

而して「南海トラフ」震源とせる巨大地震津波高最大値、沼津市13.2メートルてふ。
願わくば、災禍の甚大に及ばざることを。
